Congratulations to Dr. Laura Helleckes

Two researchers received the 2026 Jülich Excellence Award for their outstanding doctoral theses.

Dr. Laura Helleckes worked at IBG-1 and made biotechnological processes more efficient, for example those used to break down plastic. Dr. Felix Bauer developed a new method at IBG-3 to study plant roots and their response to nutrient deficiency. Central to both scientific achievements: artificial intelligence (AI). The two researchers received the 2026 Jülich Excellence Award for their outstanding doctoral theses. The Board of Directors presented them with their awards at the JuDocs Ceremony on Monday.
